Since graduating Boston College in 1989, Jerry has had a distinguished career in the parcel industry. The majority of Jerry’s professional life was spent at UPS where he cultivated and honed his talent and perspective for all things parcel. Roles and responsibilities included leading large teams in the formulation and execution of sales strategy, negotiations training, incentive and revenue management, and product development to name a few. Jerry has personally inspired multi-billion dollar business units through his creativity, passion, and leadership.
Several of Jerry’s key roles included:
- Director of New Product Development: Jerry’s team created the product known today as UPS SurePost. He personally led the sales organization responsible for transforming UPS’s residential strategy and bringing its postal hybrid solution to the market. Jerry’s understanding of the direct-to-consumer marketplace is deep and exceptional.
- Director of US Sales Operations: This multi-faceted role delivered services to a far-reaching constituency and sat at the helm of a $15B sales organization. In this capacity, Jerry was directly responsible for an internal organization, the UPS Strategy Room. This cross-functional team had the responsibility of reviewing any field sales agreement with an annual value of $25M or more per year. Jerry’s team determined which variables to negotiate, and under what conditions, while administering to the needs of a variety of UPS stakeholders (ex. Shareowner relations, external analysts, internal operations, network planning, etc.) Jerry personally participated in the negotiation of agreements valued in excess of $1B.
- Vice President, Strategic Accounts: Jerry led the strategic accounts organization’s charge in the area of negotiations training, ensuring that the UPS sales organization had the skill sets necessary to protect UPS’s interests with its largest and most significant clients. Jerry was recognized by UPS as one of the world’s top performers in this capacity.
